Dave & Doug's Mom and brothers, Don & Dan
In 1990, Doug Meadows (the owner of our store) lost his mother to cancer. This contest is to honor her and for students to honor their mothers—to express their love and appreciation through a writing exercise. We offer this contest to students in grades 1st through 6th. Last year we had over 9000 entries, and we look forward to your participation this year.

Every year David Douglas Diamonds & Jewelry sponsors a writing contest in our local schools. The kids are asked to write an essay about their mom. Three deserving students win a 1/4 Carat diamond, and a gemstone winner is chosen from every classroom that participates.
Hello Teachers,
Just wanted to touch base and give everyone and update regarding this year’s Dazzling Diamonds For Mom writing contest. With over 13,200 entries this year, we have been very busy getting the entries read and judged. The winning students’ certificates will be mailed out to each school this week. As stated in the contest materials, we are trying to award a gemstone to at least one student in every class that participated. If for any reason your class does not receive a winner’s certificate please let us know by email or a phone call. Also, if your student’s name is misspelled on the certificate please let us know so that we can get a corrected certificate mailed out (we do our best, but many times it’s difficult to read the students’ writing).
For those of you who did not participate we encourage you to next year.
Thanks,
Jen Foster
Our Diamonds Winners have been chosen and the school has been notified. We would like to congratulate . . . .

Jeffrey of Robin Brownr’s Third Grade Class - Garrison Mill Elementary
My mom is really special, in every way, any situation she can make me feel loved and cared for. When I get hurt she is there for me. She goes to every one of my sports games, she cheers for me even if I miss the ball or come in last, all she cares about is effort. She may not be able to play with me but she is always willing to give me love.
Joicy of Debbie Cronin’s Fifth Grade Class - Sope Creek Elementary
My mom is my best friend, I could tell her everything that’s on my mind, no secrets will be left behind. My mom is a treasure filled with joy and laughter, she is my piece of jewelry. I am loved by my mother, she is caring, kind, and I don’t want to brag but she must be the most beautiful women in this wonderful world. She gave me shelter, food, clothing, and most of all she gave me love, so that is why I’m giving her my heart and all the love I have. If she’s upsad I’m upsad if she is full of laughter I’m full of laughter. Nothing in this world will separate my mom and I. Oh, and remember I love my mom and nobody will change that. Love, peace and hugs.
